Application

  1. Please submit application before participant recruitment begins; retrospective review is not allowed. Recruitment must only start after approval.
  2. Use the approved version of documents (including proposals, consent forms, advertisements, surveys, and interview outlines) for the project.
  3. Any amendments to the project (including timeline, proposal, methodology, sample size, consent forms, advertisements, surveys, or interview outlines) must be submitted for approval before implementation.
  4. For student research projects, an NCCU faculty member must be listed as the Principal Investigator (PI), with the student as a Co-PI.
  5. The committee does not accept applications from non-NCCU students. Please submit such requests to another review committee.
Submit

Submission

  1. Ethical approval is valid for one year. For projects exceeding one year, a second approval certificate will be issued upon submission and approval of the first progress report. Submit this report at least two months before the approval expires.
  2. For projects lasting one year or less or those completing earlier than expected, submit a final report within three months of approval expiration to complete the ethical review process.
  3. Only researchers who have submitted required reports on time may apply for new project reviews.
  4. If a project is terminated after approval, submit a termination report. If withdrawing a project before approval, submit a withdrawal report.
  5. Ethical review by NCCU is separate from reviews by funding agencies (e.g., NSTC, MOE). Reports and amendments must be submitted separately to each entity.
 

Before March 15, 2021 (Old System)

Both Digital and Hard Copy Submission

For applications submitted before March 15, 2021, all follow-up procedures (including amendments, progress reports, final reports, and adverse event reports) must continue using hard copies until case completion. Please submit one hard copy and one digital file to the responsible staff.

From March 15, 2021 (New System)

NCCU Research Ethics Online Review System

Starting March 15, 2021, all research ethics review applications must be submitted via the NCCU Research Ethics Online Review System (NCCUREC). Hard copy submission is no longer required.

Fee Standards & Payment Methods

  1. Receipts are issued immediately after payment. Once issued, they cannot be refunded, changed, or reissued with a different date or amount.
  2. Ensure the receipt date falls within the reimbursement period of the project. If still have an ongoing NSTC-funded project with remaining funds, may use those funds for the review fee.
  3. After payment, scan or photograph the receipt (or remittance slip) and email it to irb@nccu.edu.tw.If providing a remittance slip, please provide the receipt title and address along with the content of the email letter.
  4. Payment options:
    1. Pay at the NCCU Cashier's Office (5th floor, Administration Building). The receipt must include:

Note1: Doctoral candidates in the humanities and social sciences who receive funding from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) for writing their dissertations shall be charged according to the standard fee for Project Category 3.
